Privacy Notice
This notice explains how YengKo handles personal information submitted through yengko.com, including the private enquiry form and Virtual Orientation Follow and reservation features. It is written for clarity and should be read together with the Terms of Service. It is not legal advice.
This notice covers the commercial place-decision website and Virtual Orientation at /orientation. If YengKo introduces separate terms or notices for confirmed service delivery after the pilot stage, those will be provided before payment or confirmed scheduling applies.
Who we are
YengKo (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website’s enquiry form and related private enquiry channels, for the purposes of South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (“POPIA”).
Legal name: YengKo (Pty) Ltd. Registration number: 2026/241041/07. Registered address: 169 Oxford Road, Rosebank, Johannesburg, 2196, South Africa. Private enquiries: enquiries@yengko.com. Privacy: privacy@yengko.com.
YengKo™ is a trade mark of YengKo (Pty) Ltd.
YengKo provides place-decision intelligence for organisations, advisers and individuals. Virtual Orientation is YengKo's individual-facing service on this website. Vidare by YengKo is a separate free place-understanding foundation and is not the commercial service offered through the enquiry form.
Enquiry information
When you submit an enquiry, we ask for:
- Client type (executive mobility or premium property)
- Name
- Organisation
- Work email
- Role
- A short description of the place decision you wish to discuss
- Timing of the next relevant decision
- Confirmation that you agree we may use these details to respond
We may also receive technical and attribution details generated by the form or your browser, such as source page URL, UTM parameters when present, a hashed IP address for abuse prevention, and user agent information.
Please do not include employee, buyer or household personal data beyond what is needed to open a commercial conversation.
Virtual Orientation Follow
When you follow a specific Orientation, we collect:
- Email address
- Orientation identifier and name
- Follow status and timestamps
- Follow source (for example catalogue card or product page)
- Availability state at the time of follow, where relevant
We use this information to record that you are following a specific Orientation and to send you updates related to that Orientation, including availability changes and relevant pilot updates. Follow is not a booking and does not create general marketing consent.
You may stop following a specific Orientation using the follow controls in the product. If you need help, contact privacy@yengko.com.
Virtual Orientation reservations
When you submit a pilot reservation, we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Selected Orientation and city
- Preferred date
- Configuration details relevant to the Orientation (for example route, neighbourhood comparison or shopping priority)
- Optional context or questions you choose to provide
- Reservation status and operational metadata (for example reference identifier and submission time)
- Whether you were already following the Orientation before reserving
We use this information to record and manage your reservation, understand demand for the pilot, prepare for potential delivery and contact you about scheduling or material changes to the Orientation. A pilot reservation does not create a confirmed booking.
Please do not include sensitive personal information in reservation context unless it is genuinely necessary for YengKo to understand the support you are requesting.
No payment is taken when a pilot reservation is submitted.
Business Advisory enquiry
YengKo Business Advisory is a separate small-business advisory proposition. It is not the place-decision service described elsewhere on yengko.com. When you submit a Business Advisory enquiry, we may collect:
- Name and email address
- Phone or WhatsApp number, if you provide one
- Business name, location, stage, sector, turnover band and team size
- The situation or service you selected, and what you tell us about the business need and desired outcome
- Urgency, preferred contact method and how you heard about the service
- Attribution details such as landing page, referrer and UTM parameters when present
- Confirmation that you agree we may use these details to review the enquiry and respond
- Optional, separate consent if you ask for occasional YengKo updates
We use this information to review fit, discuss how YengKo may be able to help, prevent spam and keep a record of the conversation opening. Submitting an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing unless you separately opt in.
Why we collect it
We collect enquiry details to understand your request, respond to you, keep a record of the conversation opening, prevent spam and abuse, and meet legitimate operational or legal needs related to business enquiries.
We collect Virtual Orientation Follow and reservation information, and Business Advisory enquiry information, for the product-specific purposes described above. These flows do not create general marketing consent unless a separate consent is requested.
How we use it
- To acknowledge your enquiry by email
- To notify the YengKo team that an enquiry has been received
- To review whether a private pilot conversation is appropriate
- To maintain operational records of enquiries and delivery status
- To record and manage Virtual Orientation Follow relationships
- To record and manage pilot reservations and related contact
We do not use this form as an automatic marketing subscription. There is no marketing opt-in on the enquiry form. Where marketing consent is required by law for a different purpose, it will be requested separately.
Legal basis
Depending on the context and applicable law, we process enquiry information on the basis of steps taken at your request before a possible commercial engagement, our legitimate interests in responding to business enquiries and protecting the form from abuse, and where required by law. This description is provided for transparency and is not a claim that every enquiry is processed under every listed basis in every jurisdiction.
How we use service providers
YengKo uses carefully selected service providers to support secure website hosting, data storage, enquiry processing, transactional email delivery and operational handling of Virtual Orientation submissions.
These providers process personal information only as required to provide their services to YengKo and are subject to appropriate contractual, confidentiality and security obligations.
International processing
YengKo is based in South Africa. Some personal information may be processed in other countries where YengKo or its service providers operate.
Where cross-border processing takes place, YengKo applies the contractual, organisational and technical safeguards required by applicable data-protection law. Further information about the safeguards relevant to a particular transfer may be requested by contacting YengKo at privacy@yengko.com.
How long we retain information
Website enquiry information is normally retained for up to 24 months after the latest substantive correspondence relating to the enquiry.
Virtual Orientation Follow and reservation records are retained for as long as needed to manage the pilot, contact you about the relevant Orientation, and meet legitimate operational or legal requirements. A specific retention schedule for these records requires legal and policy confirmation. Contact privacy@yengko.com for current information.
If the enquiry develops into a client engagement, relevant information becomes part of the client record and is retained under the retention arrangements applicable to that engagement.
Limited information may be retained for longer where required by law, contract, or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights. When personal information is no longer required, it is securely deleted or de-identified.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, loss or misuse. Enquiry and Virtual Orientation submissions are received through restricted server-side processes. Raw IP addresses are not stored; a salted hash may be stored for rate limiting and abuse prevention. No security measure can be described as absolute.
Automated decision-making
The enquiry form and Virtual Orientation Follow and reservation flows do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. Submissions are handled operationally by YengKo.
Cookies and analytics
This commercial website does not currently use non-essential cookies or third-party analytics scripts. If that changes, this notice will be updated before such tools are introduced.
Product analytics for Virtual Orientation use product identifiers and anonymous session metadata. Raw email addresses are not sent to analytics event payloads.

Under POPIA and other applicable data-protection laws, you may have rights in relation to your personal information. Those rights, and the grounds on which they may be limited, depend on the applicable law.
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate, outdated, excessive or incomplete information

- Lodge a complaint with YengKo or with the Information Regulator of South Africa
To exercise your rights, email privacy@yengko.com with your full name, email address, a clear description of your request, and any information needed to verify your identity.
